This year, for Volunteer’s Week, we’ve asked our amazing volunteers to share what giving up their time for Mermaids means to them! We have a very diverse range of volunteers ranging from LGBT activists, to parents and former service users. Our trustees are amazing LGBT rights champions who love to get involved with supporting our service users!

Some of our most dedicated volunteers have themselves been supported by Mermaids and are now giving that same support to others. They are incredible at empathising with our service users’ feelings and understanding what they are going through because they were once in their position.

Many of our volunteers look to promote equality and diversity across all walks of life, to make sure that every child has the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest and be as happy as they can be.

While others work hard to provide the support that they never had access to while growing up.

All of our volunteers work together to provide our services across the country. From the helpline and forums to running support groups and representing us at pride, everyone’s contribution is invaluable to us and appreciated by every single one of us here at Mermaids.
