We Are All Impacted by COVID-19
We are receiving a high volume of calls to our helpline from young people who are scared by what’s happening and are facing a long period of isolation in often-unfriendly environments with little opportunity to find comfort and support. Whilst parents are worried about how to support their children during a period of social isolation, many of whom deal with significant mental health difficulties.
Amidst all of this, the charity is facing considerable challenges; we are already seeing a reduction in individual donations, we’ve been forced to cancel all residential weekends, as well as our local groups and training sessions, which was a significant source of income for the charity.
That’s where DIGIFEST 2020 comes in!
We want to give people a real online community and something inspiring and uplifting to look forward to. We want to remind the young people and families we work with that they are not alone.
Text DIGIFEST to 70085 to donate £3 to Mermaids.
What is DigiFest 2020?
DigiFest 2020 is a multi-casting interactive festival streamed on Twitch and hosted on our own bespoke Tiltify platform, with special celebrity guests, live music and discussion.
This is the first time Mermaids has organised its own live stream. However, we have a history of significant uptake, with the Hbomberguy raising $340,000 for Mermaids and attracting over 650,000 viewers. A fundraiser to celebrate his birthday also raised over $50,000 for us and drew in many thousands of viewers.

This festival is all about live appearances, performances and discussion benefiting our children and families so if your company would like to come on as a guest for a short talk with our professional hosts and discuss ways people can find comfort and strength, that can also be discussed. This event is about bringing everyone together and corporate heroes and allies are an important part of that!
Set up in 1995, Mermaids is the UK’s largest and longest-running trans kids charity, supporting and campaigning for the human rights of trans and gender-diverse kids, teenagers and their families. We have a proud history of standing up for some of society’s most vulnerable people when they often feel unable to fight for themselves.
