Our volunteers contribute their time in a variety of roles – Here are some examples of the work you could do for Mermaids:
We are always looking for enthusiastic new volunteers to help provide a quality service. Those working on the helpline service must attend a 2 day training course before taking up their role working across calls, web chat and emails. Each volunteer is given regular supervision and ongoing support. We ask for a minimum 3-hour commitment per week and you will find that a volunteer role on Mermaids Helpline Service is hugely rewarding. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.
We need more local groups around the country for parents and young people to get together. Training, support and supervision is given. Meetings are once a month, often weekends, to allow for parents to bring children and young people with them. We look for spaces with at least 2 rooms to allow some privacy.
Volunteering with Mermaids helped me to gain my sense of self again, rejuvenating my work skills and giving me the opportunity to help others. The helpline is a marvelous volunteering opportunity which helps Mermaids to support others.Kerry
